A walking distance from Kofar Kawaye, Emir Mohammadu Rumfa decided to build another gate called Southern Gate (kofar Kudu). A lady called AGUNDI from Habe clan settled and erected a hut where she lived close to the gate. She gave birth to a baby boy named KOKAU, who grew up to become a brave and stubborn youth, attacking and robbing people of their property. They called him the Son of Agundi i.e. 'DAN AGUNDI'. When he died the name Dan Agundi was maintained and applied to the gate till date. The gate is located along Bayero University Kano Road, opposite the famous Rumfa College.
