On the western part of Gadon Kaya, the son of the Emir, Wambai Giwa, decided to build another gate in continuation with the expansion work of all city gates and wall as directed by his father.
Dukawuya is derived from the name of a tall, strong and brave farmer known as 'DUKAWUYA' who belonged to the Habe Clan. Dukawuya's work of one day could be equivalent to that of ten strong men of that time. This made him quite popular. The gate is located along Bayero University Kano Road close to the University's old campus.
